Upgrade Now: A Step-by-Step Guide to Moving from Stakes.social to Clubs

August 27, 2024

Yes, you are reading well. Stakes.social (SS), the first Dapp made by Dev Protocol, will migrate its users to "Clubs".

Here is a summary for many of you who do not know what SS is. Released in June 2020, SS was a DeFi-based sponsor platform where developers, OSS creators and supporters are rewarded with tokens if they support their favorite projects by staking DEV tokens. The journey of the Dev Protocol Mainnet began with SS. The encounter between OSS and web3 led many users into the world of web3 for the first time, sparking numerous sensations primarily around GitHub. The platform was the DEV Protocol team's first attempt to create a decentralized economy for creators before the arrival of Clubs.

Given the dynamic environment, the DEV team discontinued Stakes.social to evolve it into Clubs where the “true creator economy” thrives. Below is the necessary course of action to keep empowering your projects with a decentralized economy and Taylor-made features! SS was the first DAPP that allowed creators to gather supporters through staking—following the same mission— Clubs offers creators the tools to create engaging websites, manage memberships, and build shops and communities. With a marketplace that offers a wide variety of plug-ins, you can enhance your economy in any way you like.

With over 800 non-developer creators already onboard, Clubs is the next logical step for SS creators. The range of comprehensive tools and plugins allows creators to grow their community and accelerate their monetization channels. Some Clubs are now attracting more than 200 members! The next one that reaches that milestone can be yours!

FAQ

1. Why is the UI on Stakes.social broken, showing error messages or 404 pages?

   — Apologies for the experience. The SS platform is neither updated nor maintained as it was before given its discontinuation. Follow the guide to migrate to Clubs.

2. I want to keep using the services of SS. What can I do?

   — It will not be possible anymore, sorry for the inconvenience. Please feel free to set up a Clubs instead.

3. What happens with my tokens on SS?

   — Do not worry about it. We got you covered as your property in SS (Niwa also) can be transferred to Clubs. Just consult this guide!

4. Does Clubs support chains like Ethereum, Arbitrum, and Polygon?

   — Clubs supports Polygon, but it does not support Ethereum/Arbitrum. Given that Clubs is the center of the latest creator economy, we recommend that the tokens you create on Ethereum/Arbitrum also be created on Polygon to start Clubs.

5. Will the SS website still be available after the migration?

   — Yes, you can see the website after the migration, but creating new staking will no longer be available, and the following pages will be gradually removed: list of properties, property details, profile viewer, profile editor, tokenization.

6. Where can I withdraw my staking rewards after the migration?

   — Staking reward management will continue to remain on SS. Access SS, connect your wallet and switch the chain if you needed, then please click your wallet button. On your staking positions page, you can withdraw your rewards and withdraw your staked DEV.

7. Is there any time limit for moving from SS to Clubs?

   — No. there is no time limit to migrate. However, we advise you to complete the migration ASAP as you can start enjoying the benefits of setting up a Club, and also staking rewards on SS will be unavailable.

8. Can you give me a rundown on the recent developments in the ecosystem?

   — We shared our latest updates at ETH Tokyo in August. Read the recap blog to catch up on the latest updates!

SS is saying goodbye in the coming days, so hurry up and do not wait any longer to be part of the next step of the decentralized economy platform. Everyone on the team is truly grateful to you who was part of SS during its early but exciting years.
