At ETH Tokyo 2024 last weekend, we discussed the new creator ecosystem, Clubs, with Ethereum developers from around the world. For those who couldn’t attend in person, we’re sharing the key insights here. In the live session, there was also mention of the global popularity of Japanese anime-style culture, along with a preview of upcoming content (details are under wraps for now—stay tuned!).
Discover the latest ecosystem updates by Dev Protocol and the exciting possibilities of Clubs ahead!
With 97% of the global population not using blockchain, the market is vast but difficult to penetrate. The DEV team has been dedicated from the start to making this 97% a reality, and Clubs is now beginning to drive that transformation.
Reflecting on our journey, we've continuously evolved our services in response to advancements in blockchain, DeFi, DAO, and no-code technologies. Since the launch of Clubs last year, we’ve made significant strides, including the integration of our technology into Japan’s public infrastructure, marking our entry into the real world.
Our ecosystem has two key elements:
(1) Dev Protocol is a revenue engine for creators, enabling monetization through tokenization and staking with the DEV token.
(2) Clubs, built on Dev Protocol, has been enhanced into a product that helps real-world creators increase their revenue. It offers unique features for creators to sell their work directly to fans and build a loyal fan base, without relying on existing platforms. This approach addresses the 97% of people who are not yet engaged with blockchain, reflecting what we have learned thanks to our community.
Clubs is designed to grow the ecosystem even as more people unfamiliar with web3 join. When a membership is purchased, a portion is automatically converted into DEV staking, with the ratio determined by the creator.
The workflow showcasing Clubs' features shares basic concepts with Dev Protocol but has significantly improved UX. It is designed to be seamlessly utilized by creators working in team-based projects, such as anime, movie or game production.
We showcased a demo of Clubs by one of Japan's leading game creators (this information is not yet public🤫). Along with the demo, we highlighted Clubs' exciting features for growing the creator economy, including "Monetization, Splits, and Collaboration."
Additionally, Clubs has a powerful plugin marketplace, signaling an openness in Clubs' functionality, allowing developers to use their preferred UI frameworks. (Developer’s Doc)
And finally, Clubs offers more than just lowest fees. It’s attracting top creators from anime, games, and manga in Japan, building a powerful network of those eager to grow the creator economy.
By focusing on real-world applications, Clubs is redefining how creators turn their work into a business while connecting with collaborators and fans in new, enjoyable ways. This is how we’re transforming the global creator economy.
Join this growing network and stay tuned for exciting updates!
